Ariana Grande’s new ‘’thank u, next” music video has teens at Etowah thankful for her early Christmas gift. Grande’s music video references the classic movies: “Mean Girls,” “Legally Blonde,” “Bring it On,” and “13 Going on 30.”

“It was fun, upbeat, and in tune with what our generation likes to see,” Maggie Bradley, sophomore, said.

After Grande released her new single on Nov. 3, it became one of the most iconic songs of 2018, but listeners had no idea that the music video would be as popular. Concluding the rough year she had, Grande wrote this song in reference to her ex- boyfriends.

“It’s so iconic and inspirational,” Collin Sherrer, freshman, said.

While some people are loving this video, others just think it is a standard music video.

“The music video is okay, but it is not one of my favorites,” Mackenzie Muoio, freshman, said.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Grande “enlisted help from Hollywood stars who took roles of recognizable characters.”  Stars like Kris Jenner, Coleen Balinger, Matt Bennett, Troye Sivan, Jennifer Coolidge, and many more also made cameos.

“The cameos combined with the recreation of many people’s favorite 90s movies made the music video even more iconic; it was also cool to see many of Ariana’s friendships in the entertainment industry through the video as well,” Mckenna Casquejo, senior, said.

After the overall success of “thank u, next” Grande’s fans are looking forward to her future hit. Grande fans are excited to see her perform June 8 at the State Farm Arena, formally known as Philips Arena.
