Music artists come back to the spotlight

There are some musical artists who end up being one hit wonders (see Carly Rae Jepson) and then there are true artists who keep churning out the hits.

Several artists are on the road to making successful comebacks and listeners are excited to hear their favorite new sounds.

Janet Jackson sold an estimated 160 million records worldwide and made a major impact in the ‘90s with 10 number-one singles including “When I Think of You” and “Miss You Much”. Recently Jackson returned with the hit “No Sleep,” from her eleventh album, “Unbreakable.” The album version features rapper J. Cole and made a wave on the Rhythm and Blues billboards.

After taking a break for the birth of a child and throat surgery, Adele is singing her way back into the charts with a brand new album. On Oct. 23, her new single “Hello” was released and pulled the heartstrings of many listeners including actress Kate Hudson who could not hold back tears and posted her reaction on Twitter. According to Rolling Stone magazine the “Rolling in the Deep” singer’s upcoming album “25” is rumored to be out for sale in November and her fan base is growing impatient. Her “Hello” music video registered 27.7 million views on youtube.com and was reported by Vevo to have had the most views of any video in one day. “Hello” is currently at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Now that he has cleaned up his life, Justin Bieber released his fourth studio album, “Purpose,” on Nov. 13. His single, “What Do You Mean,” was a hit, gaining him a Guinness Record as the youngest male to debut at the top of the Billboard 100.  The new album is an apology of sorts for all Bieber feels he has done wrong in his rise to becoming a star. Bieber’s “Sorry” and “What Do You Mean” are currently sitting at 4 and 5 on the Billboard Top 100.

Rihanna released her eighth studio album January 2015, three years since her seventh album, “Unapologetic,” but that’s not all Rihanna has accomplished this year. The artist also starred in and released “Towards the Sun,” for the hit animated film “Home.” Rihanna also served as main advisor of “The Voice” this season and signed a $25 million contract with Samsung to promote the Samsung Galaxy line.

While listening to these comeback artists, make sure to take a detour and look into new artists such as Kehlani Parrish, Jacquees and Halsey. These three new artists are topping the charts with new sounds and relatable topics with a modern vibe.
