In January, Etowah’s auditorium doors will re-open with a new look.

The auditorium, built in 1982, is currently undergoing a facelift and will be fitted with new seats and flooring. The stage will also receive some cosmetic work.

Drama teacher Charlotte Forrest is looking forward to the improvements.

“I am most excited about the stage floor being painted.  I think it will make a huge difference in the appearance of our work onstage,” Forrest said.

Principal Keith Ball gives partial credit of the facelift to student success.

“The improvements have also kind of mirrored the success that you guys’ [Etowah students] are having whether it is in class or  in a field of competition; it’s not by accident,” Ball said.

Painters are currently updating the walls. Seats will be installed Nov. 5.

During renovations, drama classes are being held in room 5007, with practices and drama club meeting in the classroom or chorus room.

Forrest said the drama club’s first performance in the renovated space will be the spring musical, The Pajama Game, March 3-5 at 7:30 p.m.
