This first week of April is notably “spring break,” and with break, comes fun. By the middle of March, it may seem as though it is too late to plan something, but here are ten last-minute spring break ideas:

  1. Get a cabin in the Smoky Mountains. Tennessee holds a wide array of options for people with many different interests. You can: hike Clingman’s Dome, visit Dollywood, watch live animal shows in Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, drive through Cades Cove, and many more.
  2. Go camping. No matter where you live, you are within driving distance of a nice campsite. Grab your sleeping bag and tent, and be one with Mother Nature.
  3. Check out a local map. Drive around; hike some nearby trails; or just explore.
  4. Go to a park. Bring out the Frisbee collecting dust in your garage, or swing on the swings to release your inner child.
  5. Volunteer in your community. It is a do-good task, and it never hurts to earn a few extra volunteer hours.
  6. All you need for it is a GPS or GPS-enabled phone. If you have not heard of it, you enter your postal code; put the coordinates into your GPS; and search for it. When you find it, you have to leave something of equal or greater value.
  7. Have a “staycation.” Get everything together — graham crackers, chips and dip, candy, popcorn, your television, couch, and a nice blanket.
  8. Six Flags. This place has more to it than long lines and sunburn. Ride the Batman roller coaster, cool off with an icy lemonade, and sprinkle your hands with powdered sugar from a funnel cake.
  9. Spring cleaning. Everybody likes a fresh, clean closet and house.
  10. There are plenty of week-long spring break internships that can teach you a lot.

No matter where you are, there are things to do anywhere to keep you busy. Spring break is not confining you to your bedroom walls.  How are you going to make the most out of your spring break?
