Your wallet will thank you later
Prom, one of the most costly night of the year, has expenses ranging from hair appointments, tuxedo fittings, spray-tans, and often the most expensive of all, the dress. Prom dresses have been historically the highest price-point of all the factors that go into attending the dance. If you do not want to buy a six-hundred-dollar dress, do not fret, as there are many more cost-effective options to help you look beautiful for prom night.
The best in-person dress shop that carries elegant dresses that do not empty your wallet is Macy’s, specifically the junior section. These dresses are of great quality and look good on any body type. With around 400 options, there is a wide variety. They also offer returns on all dresses within a 90-day time frame, unlike other formal shops. One location is at the Towne Center Mall, and if you are interested in an inside look at the dresses they carry, check their website here.
“I checked out the dresses at Macy’s and really liked the selection they carried. There were so many options and sizes to choose from,” Livy Sells, senior, said.
One of the more affordable shops is David’s Bridal. Their quality is top-tier, and you save money in the process. With styles ranging from strapless to halter, and sizes from 0-30, they have around 300 dresses under 200 dollars and nearly 100 dresses for under 100 dollars. You can try these on in-person at their store in Kennesaw, and more information regarding the store can be found here.
“I got my dress from David’s Bridal, and I was really impressed with all of the options. I especially liked my dress because I had not seen anything like it in other stores,” Lana Fischer, junior, said.
If looking for dresses online, make sure to check out stores like Lulu’s. Here, you can find beaded dresses, a simple flowy gown, and styles that fit whatever your heart desires. The only problem with online clothing is not knowing what to expect. The outfit could be perfect, fitting all the right areas, or it could be tragic. If you can find an online dress that works for you, they can be a great option that is affordable and avoids the long try-on process.
“I tried on dresses in-store but ended up ordering one online. This ended up being my favorite dress I tried on, and even the cheapest. I am really happy with the dress and highly recommend shopping online,” Ansley Rippey, junior, said.
Whether a dress is 50 dollars or 500, wear what makes you feel most beautiful on prom night. Make sure, if you are looking for a more affordable dress, check out these options to get your gorgeous gown, perfect to dance the night away.
