Current Russia Ukraine update

Update 3/18A country in combat

Violence has erupted after Russia officially declared war on Ukraine on March 3. The two nations are attempting to negotiate, but unfortunately, they have yet to reach an agreement. Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has continued to send troops into Ukrainian cities to invade and destroy citizens’ homes, places of work, and lives. 14,000 Russian soldiers have fallen as well as over 2,000 Ukrainian civilians, and Putin’s wrath has reached the United States with Russian forces shooting American journalist (Brent Renaud) and cameraman (Pierre Zakrzeski). A maternity hospital in Maripol, Ukraine, was bombed, injuring 70 and killing a mother and infant. As the situation between the countries has worsened, President Joe Biden has warned all countries that any who aid Russia will be met with consequences. Recently, The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has allocated 40 million dollars in additional funds to Ukraine, and surrounding nations are still welcoming the incoming refugees. One can find daily updates on the conflict between the two countries on the Talon.
