With 14 full ride scholarships to multiple schools such as Akron University, Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State, being the most physical kid in Etowah history and balancing two major sports at once, Bronson Rechsteiner, senior, has everything going for him.

From playing Friday Night Lights to long wrestling practices after school, it can be hard to manage such a workload.

“That is a part of the deal- stress, school, grades are all a part of the requirements to be great,” Rechsteiner, said.

Rechsteiner, playing linebacker, is the leader of the Etowah varsity Football team’s defense. He took part in catching and running the ball, and also plays slot receiver. Rechsteiner has also won multiple awards throughout his athletic high school from Iron Eagle Award to All County Athlete of the Year. Even though he always thinks that there is always room to improve, Rechsteiner considers receiving the MVP Wrestler Award to have had a big impact on him.

Coming from a family of athletes, the pressure and rivalry between siblings can help push the drive of wanting success in even more.

“My brothers set high expectations from me and my family does what they can to help me succeed,” Rechsteiner, said.

Not every athlete can be lucky enough to win every game, but Rechsteiner has his own ways in prepping for a game, and dealing with the challenges that come along. He believes that his mental toughness is what picks him up after a tough loss and before a game he tries hard to get his mind in the right state to focus on the play at hand. Star athletes can be faced with difficult challenges.

“I just go to a place where I can think and get my mind right,” Rechsteiner said.

Dave Svehla, Etowah high school’s head football coach, believes that Rechsteiner is a great example of what a true team player should be.

“Bronson is a great kid. He has a very tough exterior and he definitely is not afraid to motivate other players. He is a leader both verbally and by example, and he sets a tone for how we want our players to play on Friday nights. Bronson is intense in every facet of his life, and being great is a high priority for him,” Svehla said.

Throughout all the stress of playing three major sports all- year- round, Rechsteiner likes to take time off with his friends and go hunting and fishing.
