Robert Horn, principal, is striving to improve Etowah by encouraging students leave a legacy at the school. Not only does Horn want to focus on academic lessons, he wants to teach students skills to use outside of the classroom. He feels that students can help Etowah’s community by being role models to others.

“Leave a job, situation, relationship better than when you got there,” Horn said.

Horn searches for excellence in his staff and takes the time to choose the right teachers for Etowah. Horn wants the teachers at Etowah to be more than just the smartest, he wants them to be well-rounded.

“The first thing I look for when hiring a new teacher is their personality,” Horn said.

Horn also added a new hashtag: #EagleExcellence. He feels that along with the previous hashtag, #OneEagle, students will be persuaded to not only strive to be the best version of themselves but also to focus on the future they are building.

“Keep working for excellence,” Horn said.

Horn wants Etowah to thrive, not only academically and athletically, but he also wants the school to influence the community. That will be his inspiring legacy.
