Football phenom

Teens today face many choices: what prom dress to choose, what flavor latte to order at Starbucks, and whether to face the world when you are just done with humans. Etowah junior Dominick D’Antonio has to face the toughest choice of all: what college to choose when nearly two dozen universities coast-to-coast want him at their school.
The football phenom has now been playing for one year and has received many offers from different colleges. He is surprised by the ones he has been given but has decided to attend Northwestern University.
“It’s a great academic school, and they have a great program. I also love it up north,” D’Antonio said.
Football was not the first sport D’Antonio played. He used to play baseball, but got tired of it. D’Antonio is glad that he chose football over the summer of 2017 and loves the close bonds that he has formed with his teammates.
“I love the relationships and comraderie that surrounds a football team,” D’Antonio said.
Dave Svhela, football coach, saw that D’Antonio came into the program with an open mind and willingness to involve himself into the team. Since he had never played football before, he had no bad habits and worked really hard.
“His willingness to do anything asked of him contributed greatly to his ascension. Add to it that he is a smart, hard-working, and committed individual, and it’s not surprise he has found success,” Svhela said.
D’Antonio plans to major in economics. He plans on doing this all while playing offensive line for the Northwestern football team.
