Pip, pip, hooray
The opening night for Etowah’s annual spring musical, “Pippin,” premiered April 12. People packed the auditorium. Actors’ friends, families, and teachers were anxious for the curtain to open and for the show to begin.
“It was really good. It was impressive how professional it was for a high school play. It was so fun and exciting,” Grace Johnson, freshman, said.
The musical was a show within a show, with the Etowah actors pretending to be members of a traveling performing troupe who play characters in the musical. From the opening act, the audience felt like they had walked right into a carnival. The actors did a fantastic job portraying the scene, and the costumes certainly added to the circus atmosphere.
“Great actors. Great help, weird but exciting storyline. All around I really enjoyed it,” Gavin Sturdivant, sophomore, said.
The plot and humor kept the audience’s attention. People in their seats were laughing, singing, and some even dancing along as the cast transported into the world of “Pippin.” The chemistry between the cast helped paint the picture and gave the actors room to make jokes and act from their hearts.
“The cast and crew of “Pippin” consider ourselves a family who encourages each other to put on the best possible show we can. We are always there for each other and make sure everyone in the show feels at home. All of this under the direction of Mrs. Forrest of course,” Robby Hogsten, actor and sophomore, said.
Congratulations to the cast and crew of “Pippin” for an unforgettable experience.
