Europe: Spain, France and Italy. Tamara Linares, Spanish teacher, will be taking Etowah students and parents on an international trip this summer from June 8-16. They will be participating in many activities to learn about other cultures as they travel. 

“[We are doing this] to get people out of Woodstock, Georgia, and to open up their minds and understand the world around them,” Linares said. 

In Spain, the group of students, parents, and teachers will speak Spanish, visit museums, watch Flamenco shows (a type of traditional art in Spain that consist of dancing and music) and eat “tapas,” a traditional snack in food made with some meats and many other toppings, such as olives.  

“It will open their eyes to different cultures, arts, food, perspectives, life,” Linares said. 

In France, they will visit the French Riviera coast. In Italy, they will climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa, visit the Sistine Chapel, and experience authentic Italian food.  

“It’s all about students gaining a wealth of knowledge of the world we live in,” Linares said.
