On deck for the win
Being selfless and relentless are the two points Etowah baseball coach, Greg Robinson, preached to his state championship winning team for last season and continues to remind them this year.
“You have to be relentless in really anything to be successful,” Robinson said.
With that, the team pushes itself in practice every day after school until 5:30 to reach success. While the players function together as a team, they also work alone on their individual needs during practices to improve games.
“The hard work from practices definitely pays off. It lets your pitcher go two innings longer, or lets a hitter hit the ball 15 feet further, which sometimes is the difference in the game,” Weston Cambell, senior, said.
Many players on the team enjoy the work that leads to their success. Despite playing individual roles, the team is close, and some believe their bonds helped bring them to the state championship last year. One way the team has grown together is through community service link to other baseball article.
“We were a close brotherhood, and everything we went through brought us together,” Ethan Underwood, senior, said.
After making it to state championship last year, Robinson and his team plan to create another unforgettable season. Come see the team start off the season on Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. against River Ridge.
