Headlines and deadlines
Students not enrolled in journalism class can still be part of the Talon. New this year, the newspaper club gives students the opportunity to become reporters, photographers, or web editors.
At a typical club meeting, students focus on their area of interest. In one corner of the room, students who want to focus on writing wrote on what was currently happening in the room.
“The world needs more writers. The more writers you have, the more information you have spreading, and that means the more people are aware of what is going on,” Duke Jenkins freshman, staff reporter, said.
Students interested in photography go over tips for taking pictures. Chase Sturgill freshman, staff reporter, believes that pictures help the viewer.
“Pictures give the viewer a better perception,” Sturgill said.
Two club members, Annabelle Lichtenstein and Isabella Bryant freshman, who both want to help with web design, watched video tutorials during the club meeting.
“I just really like designing things that makes it easier to read. I like making things very aesthetically pleasing,” Lichtenstein said.
There are many options of what to do in Newspaper Club.
“I joined Newspaper Club because I wanted to join a club, and I am interested in photography. I thought this would be a good way to express that,” Emilie Dudgeon, a freshman club member, said.
Members of the Newspaper Club are preparing for the year of working with the Talon.
