Staying healthy during Corona Virus
As people around the world are searching for new activities to do during quarantine, many have turned to baking and cooking. To prevent putting on a few extra pounds, aka the “quarantine fifteen,” people have started turning to healthier alternatives. Fortunately, there are plenty of healthy, delicious recipes for every meal of the day.
For breakfast, fruit lovers can make a rainbow berry smoothie bowl. The base of the bowl consists of frozen strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and bananas. Mix that with chia seeds and almond milk, and blend it together. To make it thicker, put it in the refrigerator for fifteen minutes. Finally, top the bowl with raspberries, mangos, blueberries, and chia seeds to add aesthetic. This smoothie bowl is a refreshing, sweet way to start the morning.
Another simple breakfast food is avocado toast. This is by far one of the easiest breakfast foods to make. First, slightly warm a piece of bread. Then, cut up an avocado into small slices, and once the toast is ready, put the avocado on top of the toast. Lastly, sprinkle sea salt and pepper to complement the flavor. For a burst of juicy flavor, add a slice of tomato to the recipe. After that, people can feel fueled and ready for the day.
A quick lunch food that can keep for days is a California turkey club wrap. It takes less than five minutes to make. All that is needed is to spread a layer of mayonnaise and mustard on a tortilla. Then add turkey, avocado, tomato, and lettuce. Wrap it up, and lunch is served.
For a protein–packed meal, Thai pasta salad is a great option. Start by cooking garbanzo bean pasta. Cut up fresh cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, and scallions. Last, mix peanut butter, orange juice, garlic, and maple syrup together to create a tangy, creamy sauce. Combine everything for a lunch meal filled with protein that satisfy eater for hours.
If the mid-day hunger is calling, enjoy apple slice cookies as a snack. To make this, spread peanut butter on top of apple slices, and sprinkle chocolate chips, nuts, and raisins. It will satisfy that sweet craving while staying low-calorie.
Dinner calls for quinoa taco salad. This is a flexible recipe. Any ingredients can be added or taken out, and there is no need to measure out each ingredient. Just mix quinoa, bell pepper, cilantro, black beans, salsa, tomato, avocado, and cheese. This is a light meal that will not weigh heavily before going to bed.
The last must-try recipe for dinner is chickpea gyros. First, cook chickpeas and olive oil on medium high heat for eight minutes; season with salt and pepper, and stir them frequently. Serve the chickpeas on a warm pita filled with cucumber, tomato, red onion, yogurt sauce, and crumbled feta. Wrap it up like a taco and have dinner ready in 10 minutes.
Quarantine is a great opportunity to try new foods and activities. People can expand their food variety while passing the time by cooking. Enjoy healthy foods that are as tasty and satisfying as desserts without the consequences.
