The curtains open. Eyes filled with anticipation look onto the stage as the spotlight focuses on the actors. The scene is set for all the Broadway shows coming to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre this seasonIn the next few months, “Hello Dolly!, Miss Saigon, and Hamilton, are coming to the famed stage.

The first to hit the stage is the musical Hello Dolly! which will be performed from Feb. 11 to Feb. 15 at the Fox. The musical is about a matchmaker, Dolly Gallagher Levi, who travels to Yonkers, NY, to find a match for her client, the gruff millionaire, widower Horace VandergelderThe musical was based on the play “The Merchant of Yonkers” by Thornton Wilder. “Hello Dolly!” has won 10 Tony Awards so far.

“I would like to see ‘Hello Dolly!’ because it would be interesting to see how she overcomes the obstacles to set up the widower,” Abbie Sandora, sophomore, said.

Miss Saigon comes to the Fox March 17 to March 22The musical is about a Vietnamese woman who falls in love with an American soldier. Although they see no problem with their interracial relationship, many did approve of their marriage. With all of these issues, their relationship suffers many problems. Miss Saigon” has over 40 awards including three Tonys.

“‘Miss Saigon is a very important show that brought awareness to a situation that happened in the 70s during the Vietnam War that a lot of people didn’t know about. I think it’s very important to have musicals that highlight the lesser-known historical events, while also giving a good story, and Miss Saigon does both,” Duke Jenkins, junior, said.

Hamilton” comes to Atlanta March 31 to May 3. “Hamilton” is American Founding Father, Alexander Hamilton’s, story through music. It has rhythm and blues, pop, soul, rap, and traditional-style show tunes, which have become hit songs and are on many playlists. Nominated for 16 Tony Awards, “Hamilton” has won 11.

“I am excited to go see Hamilton at the Fox Theatre in April because I am a huge Hamilton fan, and I’ve been a Hamilton fan for three years,” Ava Riney, freshman, said.
