When hearing the term 2020, one may likely think of clear vison. Next year, everyone will want to see straight because there are a lot of new things coming.

While multitasking is hard and unsafe when driving, it will become easier and safer in 2020 according to Elon Musk, the creator of Tesla cars. Musk is predicting that he will have created the first fully autonomous driving car, meaning drivers will no longer need to manually operate the car to make it drive. Once cars can self-drive, people can use their driving time to do something productive.

“I think it [driverless cars] is really cool, and could save lives but kinks would have to be worked out before it’s possible,” Seth Tanner, senior, said.

Every year Apple releases a new iPhone, but recently the only difference in the phones has been the size and number of cameras. In 2020, people are predicting that the new iPhone will be foldable. This will eliminate some of the extra space the iPhone takes up in a pocket or bag.

“I would be excited if Apple came out with a foldable iPhone because it would stand out from the other iPhones and be different. It would also be more convenient for people to have,” Emma Tipper, freshman, said.

Every four years people all around the world comes together to watch the Summer Olympic Games. In the year 2020, the Olympics are being held in Tokyo. The Olympics are adding several new sports such as surfing, softball, karate, rock climbing, skateboarding, judo, triathlons, and 3×3 basketball.

“[In 2020] I’m excited for the US to take home some gold in Tokyo and once again show Canada is bad,” Cole Scott, junior, said.

Holidays are another thing to look forward to after New Years. In 2019, all of the holidays have landed on busy weekdays. The 4th of July was on a Thursday, Halloween was on a Thursday, and Christmas is a Wednesday. In 2020, the 4th of July is on a Saturday, Halloween is on a Saturday, and Christmas is on a Friday. This will give people the chance to celebrate without having to worry about going to school or work the next day.

“I am excited about the holidays in 2020 because many of them fall on Fridays so you can celebrate all weekend long,” Lillian Derenthal, sophomore, said.

In 2020 there are several new movies coming out. Some new films include “A Quiet Place 2,” “Trolls World Tour,” “Legally Blonde 3,” “Minions 2,” “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It,” and “The Croods 2.”

“In 2020, I am excited for all the new movies about to come out,” Emily Collins, sophomore, said.

Everyone will need 20/20 vision to see all the exciting things happening in 2020. Be sure to keep an eye out for all of these new events.
