Kicking off the season right
The soccer season kicks off this week with tryouts Jan. 19-22.
“My hope for the season is for us to make a run at state. Last year, we had the talent and potential but with the girls adjusting to two new coaches and a new system of play, we ended up using last year to build. This year, we are going to”, Emily Dover, coach of the ladies team, said.
This is Dover’s second year coaching the girls soccer team. Etowah can expect to see some familiar faces mixed with some new underclassmen. Also, that Etowah will see a more organized style of play now that the girls have had a year to adjust to Dover’s expectations.
“I look for coachable players who are willing to mold and adjust and do what they need to help their team with a positive attitude. I look for a player who is willing to work her hardest for the benefit of the team on and off the field.”, Dover said.
Returning players include seniors Sam Forbes, Amy Rodman, captain Bura Iruku, and juniors Lauren Berounsky, Rachel Barnett, and Megan Morelly.
