Etowah Eagles Lei Out the Marietta Blue Devils
More stories from Riley Smith
On Aug. 21, the Eagles’ varsity football team wrote down a victory in its playbook after defeating the Marietta Blue Devils 54-21.
Within the few minutes of the Hawaiian-themed home game, the Eagles scored the first touchdown. After giving the ball to Eagles starting kicker Chris King, junior, the team picked up extra points.
Starting quarterback Patrick Ferris, sophomore, set up running back Quorealus Smith, senior, for an over 50-yard touchdown.
The student section was packed from end to end and adorned with Hawaiian leis. It seemed as if every Etowah student who was not on the field was in the bleachers Friday night to witness first win of the season.
