For Tara Stewart, Etowah is just one piece of an exciting journey.  

Stewart, who previously taught in Cobb County, is getting her first taste of teaching an English class. Stewart has taught social studies at both Lassiter High School and McCleskey Middle School. This year, she made a move from McCleskey to Etowah, where she is teaching a senior literature class. 

“My favorite thing is that I have seniors. I like that they do what they’re supposed to,” Stewart said. 

Before becoming a teacher, Stewart studied history in college. While in school, Stewart took time to explore new places. Among her adventures was a trip to Barcelona to study abroad. 

“I went to school in Spain for six months while I was in college. We traveled around the country,” Stewart said. 

Stewart lives with her husband, two children, and pets. 

“We have a dog, he’s a boxer… and my husband breeds snakes. We have 12. They’re big ones; one of them is a Burmese python,” Stewart said. 

So far, Stewart is enjoying her time at Etowah. 

“I like it here. Everyone has been really nice and helpful,” Stewart said.
