High tech high schoolers
Cherokee County held its annual Technology Fair this past weekend at River Ridge High School, and Etowah students finished well in their divisions overall. The Eagles walked away with six first place wins.
“The Audio/Video Technology and Film students did a great job at the Georgia Technology Fair on Saturday. It was a great experience for them to showcase their projects and explain to judges how the projects were created. They were professional and had a great attitude throughout. And, of course, I’m so proud that every one of them won an award,” Linda Yunker, AV Tech adviser, said.
In the video production category, seniors Adam Nay and Catelin Ward, and freshmen Austin Doss and Connor Fisher, placed first. For digital photography, Caitlin Radtke, junior, placed first, and for audio production, freshman Isabelle Bryant placed first. Along with their first place win, in their division for the literacy tech test, Doss placed third, and Fisher placed second.
“We won last year at regionals, as well, so being able to go back to state and try to place first this year is going to be a great opportunity,” Catelin Ward said.
Seniors Corey Gerles and Patrick Murphy placed second in video production with Murphy also placing third in his division for the technology literacy test.
“I think Tech Fair was a fun experience that gave me the opportunity to do something I enjoy with resources I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to use,” Fisher said.
First place winners can now compete in the state round in Macon, next March.
