HOSA is the place to be
Health Occupations Students of America, or HOSA, is a club at Etowah for future healthcare professionals. In the club, students learn about a variety of careers in the healthcare industry to see what might interest them.
“HOSA is a really great club with a lot of great opportunities. It really exposes you to the healthcare world, so you can see all of what is out there,” Natalie Nejad, freshman, said.
The club already has completed two successful field trips. The first field trip was the Fall Leadership Rally. Students went to the Georgia State Fair in Perry. There they tested in the Statesmen Test to qualify for the Statesmen Award. The second trip was the Fall Leadership Conference at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta where students went to four healthcare science workshops to learn about different careers in healthcare.
“I had a ton of fun on both HOSA field trips,” Chloe Mnich, freshman, said.
HOSA is now preparing for the State Leadership Conference in March where every student chooses an event related to healthcare and competes against other students.
“All of the field trips that HOSA goes on are a lot of fun and an awesome learning experience,” Jenna Doran, sophomore, said.
HOSA is a club that exposes its members to many different areas of healthcare in an educational, yet fun way. If you are interested in joining HOSA next year, contact Megan King, healthcare science teacher, in room EE111 for more information.
