Nicole Booth, pictured above, is the Etowah class president and a key member of SGA.

Nicole Booth stands before the Student Government Association (SGA) with the ease of a leader.  She articulates important information about planning the building decorations for Homecoming Week while leading the elected council through her example.

Booth has been a key member of SGA for all four years of her high school career.  After gaining much wisdom and leadership skills from observing in her freshman and sophomore years, Booth successfully ran for class president in her junior and senior years.  As the senior class president, Booth is also the Student- Body President of Etowah. She said she was ecstatic to learn she had been elected.

“Being president for the past two years has really provided me with the platform to showcase my leadership skills through organizing Homecoming, Red Ribbon Week, the Talent Show, and many other events.  I’m so thankful to the members and sponsors of SGA for all of their support and hard work,” Booth said.

Her leadership skills are showcased in other facets of Booth’s life; from being involved in National Honor Society to being a senior dancer at Steppin’ Out Performing Arts Center, Booth influences those around her.  Most recently, she was chosen as the District Representative for the United States Youth Senate Program in Washington, D.C. where two students from each state shadow Senators in the capital; the next round of choosing the two representatives is the state level.  Booth has already tested and interviewed for this and the results will be posted soon. Booth’s commitment and leadership is recognized by students and administration.

“Her work ethic, character, and overall commitment to excellence inspires.  We are very fortunate that she serves as our  Student-Body President knowing she will do what is best for all Eagles,” Keith Ball, principal, said.

Booth hopes to attend either University of California Los Angeles, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, or Stanford University this upcoming fall and major in Journalism.

She got her passion for journalism from being on Etowah’s yearbook staff all four years of highschool and being the Editor for the 2015- 2016 school year.

“It’s so easy to work with Nicole,” Cameron Shockey, Vice- President of the Senior Class, said.  “She is always open to my ideas or thoughts for SGA.”
