Diving into the new season
Etowah’s swim team is more than ready to dive into the season. With new team members, coaches, captains and strategies, the athletes are preparing to show off their skills and claim the county championship once again.
“I have seen really good potential for our team already. Some new swimmers are sticking out and seem to be doing very well,” Ian Notarthomas, junior, said.
The second meet for the Etowah swim team is Nov. 11th, and the members are pumped. Deborah Krug, head coach, and Lindsey Johnson and Danae Lance, assistant coaches, are preparing the athletes for success.
“We are looking forward to another great swim season and working hard to defend our county championship,” Krug said.
Etowah’s swim team has one of the longest seasons out of any of the sports. The swim team is year-round and keeps the athletes busy. The practices consist of warming up, diving, timing, and laps. Throughout the year, the athletes build endurance doing these drills consistently.
“It takes up a lot of time, but it’s definitely worth it,” Haley Theriault, freshman, said.
Etowah’s swim team is excited to see where this season takes them.
