A decade of trends

In the past decade, fashion has changed dramatically, but most people tend to wear similar styles of clothes. People have their “own” style, but tend to lean toward the more popular brands and trends.
In 2007, jeans were looser, and some flared out at the bottom, but now it seems like there is a competition to see who has the tightest jeans. Jeans with designs on them or gems were once popular, but now ripped skinny jeans seem to be the rage.
“When I was younger, I would wear plaid shorts or plaid pants, but now I would never wear that,” Cami Marcotte, freshman, said.
For the boys, it does vary a bit. In 2007, stripes were considered fashionable; now more “preppy” clothes like Vineyard Vines or Guy Harvey are trendy. In 2007, you would see Polo and button up shirts; now guys wear American Eagle and Nike. Sportswear seems to be back in style, like track shorts and t-shirts.
“I wear a lot of Nike and Vineyard Vines, but I do not usually wear what everyone else is wearing because I like to have my own style,” Robert Wright, sophomore, said.
With several high schools within driving distance of downtown Woodstock and the Outlet Mall, students shop at the same retailers, so many outfits around town are practically identical.
