Halloween on a budget
For those who have not yet bought this year’s Halloween costume but still want to join the festivities, here are ten do-it-yourself ideas using items everybody probably has at home:
- If you are looking for a fashion throwback, take a white bed sheet, cut two holes for eyes. Voila—a ghost!
- Recycle yourself. Wrap your body in aluminum foil. Now your are a leftover! (Do not forget to recycle your aluminum foil once you are done.)
- If youthful is more your style, be a kid; dress in your favorite pajamas.
- Instead of paying for advertisements, be one yourself. Decorate a piece of cardboard, and hang it around your neck. Boom—walking advertisement!
- Turn yourself into something everybody loves—a present! Cut legs, arms, and a head hole out of a decorated cardboard box, and wrap a bow around yourself.
- Turn your normal rags into Cinderella riches. Be Cinderella before she meets the prince. Dress up in some old, dirty rags, and carry around a mop and a water bucket.
- If you want to be something dark, go as the Grim Reaper. Dress up in a black hoodie and pants, and whisper to people that you are “coming for them.”
- The famous “pink shirt girl emoji” is a must-do simple costume. Put on a pink shirt, and strike some familiar poses.
- Be a chef! Put on an apron, and carry around a spatula everywhere you go. A dusting of flour on your nose or cheek adds the perfect finishing touch.
- Be a cowboy/cowgirl. Put on cowboy boots, jeans, a flannel top, and a cowboy hat. Girls can braid their hair to complete the look.
No matter how many costumes are sold out, or what your money situation may be, there are plenty of ideas to fit any budget.
