Robert Horn, the new principal of Etowah High School says that he is focused on becoming a part of the school’s brand.

“I just wanted to do my part,” Horn said. After working in Cobb County for many years at schools including Kell and Hillgrove, he decided to come to Etowah.

This is his first time as a principal. Horn says that he does not plan to change much here at Etowah. The community is already doing a great job. One of the few changes that he has made is the cross-campus release bell. When it is time for class changes, an initial bell rings for students going from the East Campus to Main and so forth.

“Cross-campus release to me just made more sense,” Horn said, “Last year when I visited, the bell rang and it was like people just did not know when they needed to be there.” The changes made to the school have been both challenged and accepted around campus.

Horn understands that there is a transition period going on, but he plans on holding students accountable. Other students are happy with the freedoms allowed by Horn’s policies.

“He lets us have one earbud in which is not allowed at other schools,” a student said.

Around campus, many students can be seen taking advantage of the option to listen to music between classes. For safety, Horn prefers students to have only one earbud in, but he is more lenient than the other county schools on the rule.

“Your name is a brand, just like Nike, Adidas, Coke,” Horn said. No matter what leadership students are under, the Eagle brand will soar.
