This year’s annual musical, Big Fish, was a smashing hit! Filled with dancing and singing, the show ran the gamut of emotions from pure joy to tears of sorrow. From the lighting to the acting, the cast and crew really brought the show to life, and audience members were clearly moved at the end.

“The cast and crew did an amazing job and performed their absolute best,” Charlotte Forrest, head of the drama department, said.

Lead Edward Bloom was played by Brandon Cali, and joining him onstage was MJ Smith, playing Will Bloom, and Sydney Wakeford as Sandra Bloom. But actors alone cannot work their magic without some unsung heroes:  the amazing crew. Stage manager Jaden Jackson was assisted by Hannah Moore and Molly Foster.

“I loved getting to work with such awesome students to bring the story to life,” Charlotte Forrest said.

The musical is about a relationship between a father, Edward Bloom, and his son, Will Bloom. All throughout Will’s life, Edward has been absent due to work. He would come home, and the only time the two spend with each other was when Edward would tell Will these tall tales. Now that Edward has been diagnosed with cancer, Will is determined to figure out what is real. Will always thought Edward told the wild stories to make himself look better, but he soon comes to find out his father was telling him these stories for inspiration.

“Their hard work and dedication has been so inspiring. This was a very challenging show, and they impressed me time and time again with their commitment to putting on the best possible performance,” Forrest said.

The show was scheduled to perform March 23rd, 24th, and 25th. Due to the unexpected death of beloved E.T. Booth chorus teacher, Kevin White, the show on the 24th was moved to the 29th.

“The show on Saturday wasn’t our best run, but with all of the emotion that went into it, I’d say it was the most powerful,” Cassidy Hall, sophomore, said.

The show on the 25th was sold out, and the whole front row was decorated with flowers dedicated to Mr. White. All the proceeds from that performance went to Mr. White’s family.
