Six-seconds to four years of fame
There comes a time when a social media platform dies. This usually happens when another platform improves upon it, eventually replacing it. Facebook “killed” Myspace, and now Vine is dead due to many social media websites.
Twitter is taking credit for the “murder” of Vine. However, that is not the only possible reason for Vine to shut down. Instagram made its videos longer, and now there is a new app called Musical.ly. Musical.ly is basically the next Vine since you can produce short comedy videos and much more.
Six seconds is a short amount of time to be funny or entertaining, but many social media celebrities have mastered it. In fact, Shawn Mendes started out on Vine making short six-second covers of songs and now is a professional singer. Many of the Vine stars have YouTube channels and produce weekly videos.
Vine is still available in the app store, but its green icon is now black showing the “death” of the app. People can still watch loops of old vines but cannot make new ones. That six-second app lasted for four years which is surprising, so R.I.P Vine.
