Ready, set, binge!
Binging, in TV terms, is the art of watching many episodes of a show in a short period of time. It is slowly becoming more popular than the actual shows.
It is an important process, picking out which TV shows to binge watch. Inevitably, they always fall into two categories: shows that have not finished and shows that have. Both have positives and negatives.
Watching shows that have not ended is risky. A favorite character could die in the last episode. However, you still get new content. If they do not die, then you just get another season.
“It’s a bad habit, but sometimes I’ll literally just sit from the time I get home to when I go to sleep just watching ‘Criminal Minds.’ I really need to stop,” Schaefer Sockman, sophomore, said.
Then there are shows that have already ended and been spoiled for you countless times, but you still watch them. There is nothing new, nothing that will “break the internet” and maybe your heart. That could be a good thing though.
“I literally have not stopped watching ‘The Office.’ I’m almost done with the last season,” Tabitha Wright, sophomore, said.
The best shows might be ones that we have watched over and over.
“Since I first saw ‘Charmed,’ I haven’t stopped watching it. It’s my go-to show,” Cole Roy, sophomore, said.
It is cold out, and winter break is coming up, so what are you going to watch? If you want to see something that is still playing, “Bates Motel” goes into its final season next month; “Supernatural” will probably never end; “Sweet/Viscous” is a new MTV show still in its first season, and “Brooklyn 99” is on season three.
If you are looking for a show that has already been through its growing pains, try “Gossip Girl.” “House” will always be relevant, and “Glee” still deals with issues facing teens today; the episode with Finn’s death will always be sad.
Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu provide bingers a multitude of shows to watch. But if you do not have these, Valentine’s Day is coming up and ‘tis the season to share passwords with friends and loved ones.
