As anticipation for the holiday season rises and the temperature falls, everyone in Woodstock is gearing up for the winter season. Although the Ga. weather cannot seem to make up its mind, most people are getting a head start on the chilly festivities.
From participating in physical activities such as the gym or ice skating to staying in and watching TV or playing video games, there are many things people here at Eagle Mountain spend their season doing. Here in Woodstock, the likelihood of snow grows less and less each year, so people fill their time with things that require zero snow. Here are some festivities students here at Eagle Mountain will be partaking in.
“I am looking forward to the Christmas season because of all the festivities,” Maci Zahn, teacher, said.
Baking is a very popular pastime once the winter season kicks off. Cookies and milk are not just for Santa, as many indulge in them as they watch some of their favorite holiday movies. There are countless movies made for the holidays; whether it’s crying with family over ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, to chuckling over the jokes in ‘Home Alone’, many spend their holiday season watching whimsical films with loved ones. Instead of movies, some maybe even play video games.
“When the weather gets colder outside, I like to bake chocolate chip cookies and sugar cookies and watch movies,” Daniella Palma, junior, said.
Some are taking the time in the cold to better themselves, whether that is their physical bodies, their video game skills or even both. Many find solitude in working out during the cold, promoting a more disciplined mindset. Others also devote themselves to these video games as they theme the games around the holiday season. Whatever the case, it is all about the person and what they enjoy.
“I am going to hit the gym and play Fortnite all winter,” Hunter Bernard, sophomore, said.
Other physical activities come into style as well. That can include gliding on the ice with blades on one’s feet or casting a line into the lake as one patiently waits for a bite. Sports like these can be passed down from past generations, being fun ways to kill the time through the cold.
“I like to go fishing or ice skating too; those are my favorite,” Coleman Kolowich, senior, said.
Sometimes, someone’s winter can be as simple as doing the things they love, from baking to ice skating and everything in between. Here is to another awesome winter here at Eagle Mountain.
