Davis Harvey is a new Physical Education (PE) coach at Etowah. He coaches football and has been playing football since he was a kid. Not only does Harvey like to coach, but he also enjoys having strong relationships with his students and players.
Harvey has appreciated football since he was young, enjoying basketball, as well. When he got older and found a passion for coaching football and being a part of the team, he was able to watch the team grow up and become better players. Over the years, Harvey has been lucky enough to have coached three different teams who have had many successful seasons, allowing them to go to compete in the playoffs, which provides stronger competition and even better memories. Currently, Harvey’s plans to coach his kids like he did when they were in elementary school.
“I enjoy being home with my wife and kids and spending time together as a family, being able to have a good relationship with not only my students and players, but my family, as well,” Harvey said.
While he is not coaching or at work, Harvey likes to spend time with his family and go to fun places with them such as concerts. As soon as he is not with family, he enjoys hanging out with his friends. When he has time for a hobby or a break, he spends most of his time watching football games or going over future game tactics. When Harvey was younger, his dad and brother were his biggest inspirations. His past coaches ultimately inspired him to continue with football to become a coach. Coaching is a big part of his life and always will be; the most rewarding part for him is building relationships with the players.
“Watching the kids graduating and becoming better versions of themselves really has got to be one of my greatest accomplishments,” Harvey said.
Harvey has been fortunate enough to have been on multiple football teams and watch the kids he coached graduate, becoming not only better players, but also better people. As this new chapter begins for Harvey at Etowah, he hopes to still coach football for many years to come.
