Many people have different opinions on the best holiday; however, there are a few contenders for the best. Some would say Christmas, Thanksgiving or maybe even Easter. However, many prefer the spookiest holiday of them all: Halloween. Getting together with friends, dressing up as ghoulish monsters, and eating way too much candy are some common traditions celebrated on Oct. 31.
“I think Halloween is better than Christmas because you get to dress up as stuff. You can not do that for Christmas. On Halloween [you can] explore an entire neighborhood at night, dress up as what you want, and get candy that lasts for almost a whole year,” Isaya Ambalu, senior, said.
Some take Halloween’s side for the experience. Past receiving gifts, Christmas does not fully satisfy many people’s needs; Halloween, however, can scratch that itch. A lot of people love to stay up past their bedtime eating candy, though some people who are not big fans of these spooky festivities may share a different opinion.
“Christmas is better because it is the most wonderful time of the year,” Jackson Norwood, sophomore, said.
There is no cure to simply preferring the vibes of Christmas. Others may not even care for dressing up or going out past dark. When stacked up against the other holidays, especially Christmas, it can be a hard decision to declare a single best, bringing up a great point. Choosing just one may not be necessary.
“I like Christmas and Halloween both at the same time. The reason why I love Halloween is because I get to trick-or-treat for candy and have a good time at Halloween parties. As for Christmas, the reason why I also love it is because I also get to spend time with my family and friends, open presents on Christmas and just have a good time,” Jack Kutz, junior, said.
The holiday season is all about spending time with family and friends. No matter what the preferred holiday is, make sure to stay safe and have a wonderful holiday season.
