Spreading happiness

“It’s like a chain of positivity,” Hannah Pearce, senior, said.
Every other Friday, Pearce hands out flowers to kids around school. She goes to local flower shops and buys packages of flowers with her own money, the night before.
“I had flowers one day, and when I gave them out, people got really happy and excited about it, and people are always excited for Fridays, too,” Pearce said.
While juggling the life of being a senior and WACC ninja, Pearce hopes to continue the tradition all year and that it will continue when she leaves Etowah. Pearce has many friends who have volunteered to pick it up next year.
“It would be a cool thing to leave behind when I graduate,” Pearce said.
Pearce also finds time to work on her senior project, writing a fictional book.
Recently, her fellow classmates and friends surprised her with her own flowers for herself. All of her friends and teachers gathered at the WACC and waited until she walked in to shock her.
“I think I cried; it was so cute; I honestly loved every second of it,” Pearce said about the sweet surprise.
One of Pearce’s favorite things about Flower Friday is being able to see the excitement on people’s faces when they are getting a flower. She also loves the fact that people are passing the flowers along and brightening other student’s days.
“I hope to spread love and happiness,” Pearce said.
