The adventurous passions of Christen Ellenberg
Adventurer and basketball player, Christen Ellenberg, freshman, has a passion for helping the needy, while also taking risks for fun. From hiking the Camelback Mountain Trail in Arizona to a mission trip in Kenya, she has seen many things.
“I like hiking and finding cool spots in the woods,” Ellenberg said.
Usually, she visits Rope Mill Park with her boyfriend, hiking every trail and even making her own. Ellenberg occasionally hikes Roswell Mill, as well.
“I really want to make a name for myself. I want to do something that is good for people,” Ellenberg said. Taking a mission trip to Kenya really inspired her and opened her eyes to the differences between the less fortunate and the fortunate. She wants to change that difference.
Her brother, Chase Coleman, also inspired her, because he made it through life doing amazing things without following the ‘cool’ crowd and giving into peer pressure.
“I see that difference between those who don’t have a lot, and those who do, and I want to make that difference go away,” Ellenberg said.
Ellenberg would start off in the United States, helping cities in need. Once she feels like she has gained some experience, she would bring that passion to the world, and help globally. In a way, her experience in hiking could be really useful in visiting rural places in need.
With these great passions in her heart, she continues to visit inspiring places trying to make a difference because you have to start somewhere to reach the end.
