New beginnings
More stories from Christen Ellenberg
One of the largest campuses in Cherokee County, Etowah High School continues to grow in size and stature. As the 2016-2017 school year begins, new faces appear in the hallways and classrooms throughout the campus. With the new incoming freshmen from E.T. Booth Middle School and students from other schools, Mr. Ball added 30 more teachers to the staff of Etowah.
Along with new teachers, Etowah finally added a nurse this year to the administration building. Mr. Ball also welcomed several new coaches into our athletic program.
“Join a club; make a club, and have fun,” Nathan Lancaster, biology teacher and swim team coach said. Etowah added more courses and clubs to meet the needs of our growing student population.
Etowah also continues to give its students the chance to take Advanced Placement courses and test which help our students succeed in academic scholarships for colleges all around the country.
There are some exciting changes that are being made to Etowah this year. Etowah’s gym floors were redone in late summer. As the floors were being finished, Mr. Ball changed the Eagle logo on the floor, as well. The logo looks like an eagle, but some students call it “a chicken with a double chin.”
As things are added and changed at Etowah this year, challenge yourself to try something different. Make a change.
