Queen of Diamonds Pageant
Saturday, May 7, the Etowah High School Lady Eagles Softball program is hosting the first Miss Queen of Diamonds Pageant at Etowah High School’s Auditorium at 6 p.m.
Etowah’s baseball program got the idea from Cherokee High School. Cherokee was the first high school in the county to host the pageant. Once Etowah’s baseball program stopped hosting the pageant, softball picked it up.
Door admission will be five dollars for all adults and students, three dollars for student’s six to 11 and children under six get in for free. Cherokee County School District (CCSD) and Georgia High School Association (GHSA) badges will not be accepted.
In order to participate in the pageant, contestants must be enrolled at Etowah and will have to pay a fee of $40. Contestants will be allowed to enter the auditorium at 5 p.m. Each contestant will be allowed one person backstage before the pageant with paid admission.
“This fundraiser will greatly help the softball team with their facilities and making the field the best field in Cherokee County,” Tori Brown, Etowah varsity softball coach, said. The softball program has big projects in the works for summer and will use the funds from the Queen of Diamonds pageant to help.
Etowah’s Miss Queen of Diamonds will receive a crown, trophy, sash and a scholarship. First through fourth runner-up will receive a sash and trophy. Other categories contestants may win are; sportswear, prettiest eyes, smile, Miss Congeniality, hair and dress winners will each receive a sash and trophy.
There will also be a People’s Choice Award the night of the event for spectators to vote on throughout the pageant. Votes will be $1. All the proceeds go to Etowah’s Lady Eagles Softball program.
