Grand slam season
As the summer heat dies down, and fall sports kick into gear, it is time for the Etowah varsity softball team to take the field and get back to the bases. The girls had their first two games Aug. 20, winning the first game 6-1 and the second game 12-0, securing the series against Roswell.
“I love playing for the Etowah softball team because now I have a second family at Etowah,” Kinsey Norton, junior, said.
With almost the entire varsity team returning this season after last year’s successes, the team’s head coach, Victoria Carter, is looking to continue to build on the team’s playoff chances after making it to the playoffs for five consecutive years.
“I am so excited about the way the girls have taken responsibility and accountability for the way that the team performs,” Carter said.
Come out and support the varsity softball team as they take on a double header against Etowah’s biggest rival, Woodstock High School, on Aug. 27 at Etowah at 5pm.
