It’s that time of year again, Woodstock.

Girl Scouts are out and about at various cookie booths, and are ready to fill pantries with their ever-popular mix of treats. There are seven cookie varieties, including Thin Mints, Samoas, Do-Si-Dos, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Savannah Smiles and Rah Rah Raisins.

In the beginning weeks of March Girl Scout Cookies will be sold at the Wal-Mart on Bells Ferry Road, Chick-fil-a on Eagle Drive, in front of Family Traditions on Towne Lake Parkway, as well as other locations. They will also be sold in from of Lowes and Old Navy in the Woodstock Square strip mall.

Other locations can be found using the Cookie Locator on the Girl Scout official website. The specific times are listed when cookies will be guaranteed for sale. Common hours are directly after school until 6p.m.

The Girl Scouts have been selling cookies since the 1910’s. They were first formed at the beginning of the 1900’s. As many know, the first Girl Scout Cookie was the Thin Mint. The Girl Scouts even have the original Thin Mint recipe available on their website.

“I remember selling Girl Scout cookies when I was little and love buying them every year. My favorites are frozen thin mints,” said Taylor Gilkey, junior.

The first Girl Scout Cookies were sold for 23 cents a box. Today they sell for $3.50 a box.  This year the Girl Scouts offer their first gluten-free cookie and totally redesigned packaging.
