The Parent Student Association is giving away their annual scholarship to senior member with the best transcript, clubs, leadership roles and short essay turned into the counseling office by Feb. 26, 2016.

The PTSA is giving away free money, but, yes, there’s a catch. The Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is offering a scholarship to members of the Etowah PTSA. The scholarship is given to one or more seniors from Etowah who are current members of the Etowah PTSA. The scholarship can be used for college costs, ranging from housing to tuition fees. In the past, the scholarship has ranged from a $500 to $1,000 that could be used toward any college expenses.

Join Etowah’s PTSA, by visiting can visit the front office, fill out a membership form and pay $6.

The PTSA will send a check directly to the school of the scholarship recipient’s choice. The PTSA raises the money through spirit wear sales and membership funds.

This PTSA scholarship program is designed to recognize seniors who have demonstrated academic success, exceptional leadership, and outstanding school and community involvement.

The scholarship application is available on the PTSA website as well as the Etowah website under the counseling office tab under 12th grade information and then under “scholarships and opportunities”. The scholarship application must be completed and turned in to the counseling office no later than Feb. 26. Late entries will not be accepted and incomplete or falsified applications will be eliminated from the judging process.

The scholarships applications are judged by outside parties with no connection to Etowah, using a rubric that includes transcript, clubs, leadership roles and a short essay.
