The man and his bun

Throughout the centuries, men have created new trends just as much as women, especially with their hair. From George Washington’s pig tails and perfect curls, to the 1950’s retro duck cut, men have definitely deemed their hair as an important fashion statement.

For the generation of the new millennium, man buns have been the trendy hair style.

The bun hair style has been popular among women, but lately it has debuted among the male population, and made its first appearance in the New York Times as early of January 2012.

Vox news, a general interest site for the 21st century, even released an article about the key elements of the man bun- the size of the bun, the top knot and the hair on the sides.

The popularity seemed to have started when celebrities like Chris Hemworth and Leonardo Dicaprio started owning the man bun style.

Man buns have been trendy among thriving cities such as New York and Los Angeles, but quickly spread to all of America.

With the popularity of the man bun on the rise, people do not realize how long it has been around. Photos of Japanese Samurais conclude that they too wore their hair in this same style. However, men today do not wear their man buns with kimonos, but rather with trendy shirts and skinny jeans.

From the flow to a buzz cut, the most prevalent hairstyle throughout the halls of Etowah is the man bun.
