As winter break grows nearer with each day of December, little reminders of the holiday spirit are popping up in the cafeteria, teachers’ classrooms, and now even in the parking lot at East.

For the past two years, Jonathan and Joey Young have decorated a tree near their parking spot for the month of December.

“We decorated one last year, but this year our tree is more visible,” Jonathan Young said, “I honestly didn’t even know that people noticed it.”

Red and silver ornaments and tinsel are among the adornments added to this year’s tree.

Next year, the tree will likely not return. The Youngs started their tradition as a fun way to bond with each other.

“I think it’s a twin thing, to be honest,” Young said.

Next year, will someone else decorate a tree in honor of the seniors, or will their tradition graduate with them?
