The holiday season is well underway, and whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, or any other holiday, it is time to start pumping those winter jams. This month, download a hot playlist to keep your heart warm even on the coldest of days. 

Pop Holiday

For the pop princess, the trap god, or anyone who enjoys belting out lyrics to songs by the stars featured in “Us Magazine” or those with over one million Instagram followers, these songs are for you, so turn up the volume; grab a hairbrush microphone, and get ready to put the rock in “Jingle Bell Rock”. 

Many students at Etowah love to play these holiday hits. For junior Marissa Cerda, “Mistletoe” is a favorite. Other Etowah fan favorites include Pentatonix and Mariah Carey. 

“I like Mary, Did You Know’ because the arrangement is beautiful, and I love the song,” said Emma Eagle, freshman.

Some holiday songs will never get old. Classics such as “Jingle Bell Rock” and “White Christmas” have been around for generations and are guaranteed to put even Scrooge in the spirit of the season. Even your grandparents will be able to sing along, which is a rarity nowadays.  

Around the halls of East and Main, you can catch many students’ earbuds playing these classic carols. For John Sallee, Feliz Navidad is a must around this time of the year. 

“It just really gets me into the Christmas spirit” said the sophomore.

In terms of fashion, 80’s and 90’s style is back in the public eye. Celebrate the season of giving with some throwback jams. Many people enjoy listening to 80’s and 90’s holiday songs because they remind remember fun times they have had in the past. Remakes of classic songs by legendary pop artists such as Whitney Houston defined this time in music, but comedy songs also made a mark on the tops hits list from the 80’s and 90’s. 

Freshman Emma Harbin loves a good laugh. Adam Sandler’s Chanukah Song is among her holiday playlist, but other songs also make her smile. 

“I really love the song “Santa Claus Goes Straight to the Ghetto” because every time I hear it, I laugh uncontrollably,” Emma Harbin, freshman, said.  

As the holidays grow nearer, the playlists of Etowah students are beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
