The season for singing has finally arrived at Etowah and the men and women’s choir are getting ready to perform this week in their annual holiday concert. This year’s fall concert was on Oct. 30.

“We are beyond ready for our concert,’’Kamari Mitchell, junior, said.

At the concert the women’s choir sang “Motet Ave Verum Corpus,” “Poor Man Lazarus,
and  “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” The men’s choir sang a song from the South Pacific musical, two songs in Latin, and a gospel song called  “Deep River.’’ Both choirs performed a song in Latin together.

‘’ I feel pretty good about men’s chorus this year. We have 41 guys and we’re making a great sound,’’Matthew Collins, senior, said.

The elite choir also performed in the fall concert. To be in the elite choir, William Hall, the chorus teacher, holds auditions to see who qualifies. The elite choir also participates in outside activities like singing at the Atlanta Braves game. Their songs include “Silby,” “Storm Comin’,’’ and “Ubi Caritas.”

“We are making good progress and we are going to make Etowah proud,’’ Logan Becker, junior, said.

The choir is making preparations for their performance and are working hard. The choirs perform a fall concert every year and they always strive to do a great job.  They are ready to put on a performance to the community for the holiday.
