Netflix releases season one of its original series, Ozarks, and Etowah students may recognize some familiar places.

“When I watched the show, I noticed some places that I had seen before near Lake Allatoona,” Robert Wright, sophomore, said.

Does the Blue Cat lodge seem familiar? That may be because it is right in our community. The fictitious restaurant is set right across from Little River Marina, a local boat shop right on Bells Ferry.

“The filming of Ozarks put not only LRM but Canton/Woodstock on the map. Since the premier of the show, we have seen “visitors” to the Blue Cat increase greatly. On a daily basis, we see between 3-5 people, or groups of people, stop and take pictures of themselves in front of the building. We constantly receive phone calls asking if Netflix is filming if they need extras, is Jason Bateman in town, can they tour the Blue Cat, etc. We here at Little River are excited about the show and look forward to working with Netflix again this season,” Kim Fisher, Marine Center Manager, said.

Ozarks is about a man illegally obtaining money, played by Jason Bateman, who has found himself in a little too deep in a Mexican drug cartel, and now must battle the consequences while dealing with personal issues.

“Ozarks is very unpredictable; something crazy is going to happen in season two,” Abby Higgs, freshman, said.

This show has been renewed for a 10-episode second season, and its filming is scheduled to resume next summer.
