Jacklyn Mason, dreamed of being a teacher ever since childhood.

“I was like most little girls and liked to play teacher with my stuffed animals, so I liked to pretend to be the teacher,” Mason, math teacher, said. Because people kept telling her that teaching was beneath her, this inspired Mason to pursue her passion even more.

“As I was in college, I was helping one of my floormates review for a test that was coming up,” Mason recalled. “They said that I explained things really well. This ignited my passion again for teaching and explaining.”

Although Mason went to college as an architecture major, throughout high school and college she found she was constantly tutoring people and helping them prepare for tests. Finally, Mason decided that all she wanted to do was teach. She transferred colleges and switched majors.

“I’m very excited to teach at Etowah High School,” Mason said with a smile.

Before coming to Etowah High School, Mason taught at Cass High School in Cartersville, Georgia, for 12 years. Mason has had a career in education for a long time, and Etowah welcomes her.
