A new year means new movies! Many companies have announced their plans for movies in 2017, and received a variety of reactions ranging from “Oh, heck yeah!” to “Oh, heck no!” Some of the trailers for movies have been out for a year, generating excitement in moviegoers.

Disney is one of the best for generating hype for its movies, especially now that it owns Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. Following the trend of remaking animated movies, the live-action “Beauty and the Beast” releases March 17. In May, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” debuts followed by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”  later that month. The third “Cars” movie comes out June, and Pixar is also releasing another movie this year called “Coco” the day before Thanksgiving. “Coco” is set in Mexico during the annual holiday Dia de Los Muertos. For the third consecutive year, another Stars Wars will be out in December.

While this year seems to have an overload of Disney movies, there are other companies with movies planned this year. Wanting to bring nostalgia for 90s kids, a Power Rangers movie is out in March. In June, Warner Brothers will release “Wonder Woman, to continue the making of the Justice League. Universal Studios has “The Fate of the Furious” scheduled for April. “Smurfs: The Lost Village” comes out in April and “The Emoji Movie” in August.

These are only a few of the hundreds of movies for 2017. This year the movies will range from superhero action movies to family movies, not to mention the nostalgia for some childhood shows getting a chance on the big screen.

So, sit back with some popcorn,  and enjoy the never ending flood of movies coming soon to a theater near you.
