New ninth grade English teacher, Joanne Reamy brings her appetite for learning into her classroom every day. She loves who she is and what she does.

“I’ve always wanted to teach high school — high school English. As my kids have gotten older, I’ve really felt like I was more drawn to teaching at high school level,” Reamy said.

Reamy has not always been an avid reader, but this has not stopped her from becoming an English teacher.

“For me, I didn’t particularly like reading growing up, so it was when I finally found the books that I liked, and I really enjoyed the conversations that the books spark, so it was essential for me to find something that I enjoy reading. And I thought that I could help other students who maybe don’t initially have a love of reading to enjoy it,” Reamy said.

Reamy loves to teach her students but learn from them at the same time.

“When Mrs. Reamy goes over things in class, she makes sure we understand the material,” Nicole Vantress, freshman, said.

In her spare time, Reamy likes to be with her family.

“I am really very quiet by nature, so I want people to understand that if I can get up in front of others and teach them and bring passion to my job, that it’s possible for anybody,” Reamy said.
