Disney stole the box office again, with its new movie “Moana” reaching $115.1 million dollars. Adding another fierce and independent Disney princess, Moana’s story struck hearts all over.

Moana, a Polynesian princess, has grown up with a love of venturing out into the ocean. Her opportunity finally comes when her grandma reminds her of the story of Maui, a demi-god who stole the heart of goddess Te Fiti. In turn, she cast a curse on the island people. When Moana is a teenager, her people can no longer find fish, so she sets out to find Maui. When she finds him, they embark on an adventure to save Moana’s island by returning Te Fiti’s heart.

Moana” strikes the hearts of fans everywhere, as it introduces another princess who does not need a man. While everyone considers “Frozen” the first official movie to be without a prince, there is still a strong idea of finding love within it. “Moana” does not have that love connection in it at all. Instead, it focuses on finding yourself, and loving yourself. Moana is a confident teen who sets out on a dangerous adventure to save her island, which is way cooler (no pun intended) than the plot of “Frozen.”

All in all, the movie was one of the best Disney has created. The graphics were exceptional, and the storyline was magnificent. The characters were written well and had stunning personalities that made the movie flow. The movie also features two animals, a pig named Pua and a chicken named Hei Hei. However, unlike every other Disney movie, the animated animals do not steal the show, which made the movie even more enjoyable.

Moana is perfect for anyone, no matter what age. Fun fact, Moana means “ocean” in Hawaiian. Coincidence? Definitely not.
