Clear your schedules for March 28 because the most glamorous night of the school year is approaching fast. Whether it is getting all dressed up, attending the dance, or going out for a fancy dinner, prom is the event that almost every upperclassman looks forward to.

“As prom is inching closer, I am so excited for one final round. Us seniors have recently set up and secured all of our plans for the big night. It all got so real this past weekend when I found my dress. It truly seems unreal,” Lexi Parks, senior, said.

It may seem too early to start planning and preparing, but some groups have been working on their plans since December. It is good to start early to make reservations for dinner and transportation. Prom groups usually like to dine in at fancy restaurants, such as Maggiano’s, Tuscany, Canoe, and The Capital Grille.

“We started planning our prom at the beginning of January with our group being together since December. We are so excited since it is our last one, so we will definitely make the most of it,” Abby Fowler, senior, said.

Following the theme from last year,  “A Night on the Nile,” students began to wonder how the venue will be decorated this year to represent the theme.

“I am excited to go to prom, so I can experience the big dance for the first time. I am also excited to see how the dance will be decorated,” Julian Vaccaro, junior, said.

Prom will be held next month at the Marietta Conference Center.

“I am super excited to be planning this year’s prom! The name of the dance is ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ and will have a Hollywood party vibe,” Beth Long, prom coordinator, said.

A popular trend girls tend to do is sell their dresses from past years or rent them, so check social media for options. Getting a dress from someone you know instead of shopping for one can make selecting a dress more affordable. Of course, this is not the only choice. Some girls love to go out and try on dresses with many different styles and colors. Some popular shops are Impression Bridal, Bravura, Windsor, and Flirt.

“Prom dress shopping can be stressful, but I love it because I am able to try on different styles and colors to see what I like the best,” Riley Corona, junior, said.
