After a highly anticipated wait, Panic! At The Disco released its fifth studio album on Jan. 15, 2016.

Before any word of the new album, the band released singles between of October 2015 and January 2016 including

“Hallelujah”, “Victorious”,  “Death of a Bachelor”, “LA Devotee”, and “Don’t Threaten me with a good time”.

However, in 2015, the band was reduced to one member, lead singer Brendon Urie, after founding member Spencer Smith and bassist Dallon Weekes left the band.

“I think that this album is a lot better than the rest because Brendon got to make all the music on his own without the other member’s opinion, ” freshman Tabitha Wright said, adding that her favorite song from the album is “Death of a Bachelor”.

Panic! At The Disco formed in 2004 and released its debut studio album “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” in 2005.

Urie, said the new album was inspired by Frank Sinatra, songs like “Death of a Bachelor” and “Impossible Year” reflects Sinatra’s music. Sinatra was known for his smooth voice, Urie said in multiple interviews that Sinatra aided in his journey to finding his own personal style

“Death of a Bachelor” feels like a new chapter for the one-man band. The album took many new risks, all of which were successful. The band’s prior years may have been stressful, but the latest album has paid off.

The style of Panic! At The Disco’s style has changed a lot since “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” in 2005. The band mainly sang about heartbreak and extremely controversial topics for the 2005 era of music. The band is a lot more upbeat now but it still has a reputation with dark themes.

“The new album really changed up the band’s sound. It was different than the rest and I can’t stop listening to ‘House of Memories’,” freshman Kayla Bowen said.

The band’s record labels are Fueled by Ramen and DCD2. Producers for the album were Jake Sinclair, JR Rotem, and Royal.

Panic! At The Disco is slated to play in Atlanta on June 16 at Lakewood Amphitheatre with Weezer for their 2016 Summer Tour.
